A THINKER
I had the honour of meeting Kees during my adventure in Southern Ireland.
My partner Claire and I were building a house in an amazing location in South West Cork. Claire was always very sociable and liked to meet interesting people. It was she who first introduced me to Kees.
The year was 1995 and my interest in “abduction” had grown enormously. I had already travelled to Africa and met with the late Cynthia Hind, a diligent investigator see link travelled to Puerto Rico for Central Television to report on the extent of UFO events (see my article Puerto Rico) and spoken to witnesses in Spain, Russia, Latvia and of course Ireland.
The more I studied the phenomena the more convinced I became that we were dealing with a very powerful aspect of human consciousness. In every sense a new REALITY, the realization of other intelligent life forms that are interacting with the human race. I had not found too many people who, outside of having experienced themselves, could understand the complexities, thoughts, feelings and reasonings of an “abductee”.
Kees to me however was highly qualified. Kees was an archaeologist, anthropologist and an epistemologist. His main interest was the study of thought systems which include religions. He studied Subhawa, one of the oldest schools of thought known to the world. He became a special pupil of the great Dutch philosopher Saswitha. He had also spent many years studying in both the Middle and Far East which to me presented a far broader spectrum in which to approach this subject.

We spent hundreds of hours debating “consciousness” and all its manifestations. Kees was very interested in the aspect of “abduction”. In 1997 I lent him J.E.Mack’s book “Abduction” which of course he read thoroughly. He was impressed with Mack’s findings and as a result wrote a short piece on what he thought. See the article “Looking at your own front door”. Kees was not a man to talk glibly, when he made a statement it was always well researched.
One evening he accompanied me to a small UFO debate with the science faculty at Cork University. I had just asked the students what their thoughts were regarding the fact that the descriptions of “abductions” are incredibly similar in detail regardless of culture, geographical location, race, gender, education status and religion. Kees suddenly said to me “ah now I have the answer”. This was exciting news to me and I couldn’t wait to hear his theory. After the debate I attempted to get the answer from Kees, however, he suffered badly from glaucoma and wanted to begin his long journey home immediately. We arranged that he would come over for supper the day after next. I was very excited and the next day felt like a week.
Friday evening finally arrived. We had cooked Kees his favourite food, home grown vegetables, fresh mussels and monkfish. Kees was never late for an appointment but he was now thirty minutes overdue. I rang his home but there was no answer. An hour passed and I knew something was wrong. Claire and I decided to drive to his home some twenty minutes away.
When we arrived we found his car in the drive, the house in darkness and the doors all locked. However around the back a small fanlight had been left open (in my view intentionally). How I got through that small hole still puzzles me. Turning on the lights as I moved through the ground floor I found a pristine and peaceful environment. The fruit bowl was full, the stereo on (it had been playing his wonderful Sufi music). Kees had literally just completed the refurbishment of this beautiful old building. I went upstairs to his room, there I found this wonderful man lying in complete peace, arms folded over his chest and lying as straight as an arrow. He had “transformed” some hours earlier.
My friend, brother and teacher had passed on and taken the answer with him. He left me his wisdom. Kees had quietly helped many people with their problems and this came to light at his funeral which was packed to the gun wales. He is missed by many a soul.
He took with him what I am sure would have been an interesting and thoughtful answer concerning the “abduction” hypothesis.

“Some thoughts about phenomena related to unidentified flying objects.
The world is confronting epiphanies and miracles. Interest in these phenomena is growing, not without the support of technology, politics and economy. Evidence of the occurrence of the apparitions cannot be denied.
The number of sightings and photo-material is overwhelming and the emotional meetings, the so-called abductions, are in the millions. Now that governments are also accepting the visitation of entities and spacecraft from other planets and galaxies, a slight counter- pressure against this one-sided approach seems to me appropriate.
Again, I do accept the validity of the sensual, emotional and soulistic encounters, but I do not share the view that their origins lie outside the planet Earth.
Man’s path of knowledge is twofold, it has a left-side and a right- side. Man himself walks in the middle. This path is convoluting, like his brain.
History shows us that once a side of this path is chosen, what great consequences come about for the people involved. The East acquired understanding of Spirit, the unseen aspect of life. The West focused its attention towards Matter, the tangible. Both have achieved inspiring results. While the West was comparatively late with its sensational findings, the East had achieved great insights much earlier. This because Matter is much slower than Spirit. The development of the West though, supported by power and greed, became detrimental in many aspects. This forced the East to bend itself over Matter, an advance not without suffering.
The West shows us the alternative development by reaching out towards Spirit. Physics, astronomy, psychology and biology are entering the realm of the unseen. A host of psychological and spiritual movements and groups can be noticed. Also here, not without struggle. Many people are bewildered or caught up in mental and physical pain.
Now that ufology related phenomena are accepted as coming from outer space, it seems to me that the sky itself is darkening, forcing man to look away from the sky for solutions. This might bring him to look for himself and the earth. It reminds me of a Sufi story:
‘A teacher acted like he was searching something under the light of a street-lantern near the front door of his house. At a given moment, one of his pupils passed by and asked him what he was looking for. The teacher answered: “My key, I dropped the key of my front door”. Whereupon the pupil advised him to look then for the key at his front door.’
The West is attacking the mysteries of ufology with the same energy and attitudes she is used to. Recordings from many diverse angles are collected. The most outrageous theories are thought out and composed. A vast library is developing while some aspects reach even academic level.
There is, however, an important link missing: there is not tangible evidence up to now.
I am convinced that the West will solve the questions related to ufology sooner or later. But to avoid unnecessary research, may be some scientific findings from the Eastern side of the road can enlighten us.
This might meet resistance, because these findings are labelled as ‘pre-scientific’ and do not fit the Western model. But whether ‘pre-scientific’ or not, I think that we can learn something from the East, without falling into the trap of her manna or maya. Not that I have much knowledge of Eastern sciences, nor that I am specialised in one field or another, but I have some aspects in mind.
For example:
What do we know of man’s ‘becoming’ conscious, his thinking? Now that we are building up neuro-science, talk of ‘circuits’ and bringing memes alongside genes, we still do not really know what it is all about. We are still in the research phase, I think.
What do we know about the ancient concept of ‘form-giving- fields”? Even concepts as ‘morphogenesis’ and ‘morphic` resonances are not generally accepted in biology and psychology. What do we know about unseen man, his psychology?
We know of body, mind and soul, but the difference between spirit and soul is still not clear for us. The East refined unseen man to greater detail, much like the West distinguishes different physiological systems.
It appears that man is not only capable creating many forms in matter, he also can do so when it comes to forms unseen.
What do we know of the Earth-Monad? and the Universe-Monad?
We have accepted that we are star-dust and that the different chemicals can be found all over the galaxy. But could it be possible that a reflection of man can be found on earth as well as somewhere outside our planet, like some left-turning particles on earth have their mirror-image in the sky?
If this is the case with some acid-like chemicals, why not something similar with man? Is a multiple ‘atom’ much different from a single atom, apart from its size and complexity?
What do we know actually what Man is. Now that we know almost his whole DNA code do we know him now?
I do not think so.
I think it is time to change some attitudes. Especially governments, scientists and institutions who accept the space theory. It is still a theory, no matter what the arguments.
It still challenges our accepted laws and regularities. I think it might be useful to look beyond the Western horizon. The East has also something to give known by many people who only answer questions and also hidden among many manuscripts.
The sources are ancient because a zenith of scientific understanding was reached many thousands of years ago, far away from the time that the West was reading beyond our planetary system. During the early days of philosophy (the mother of the science we learn) some laws and regularities about life and the unseen were discovered.
What do we know of the relationships between the human being, the earth and the other living creatures? We have accepted that we all come from the primordial soup. Possible even from one particle. We eat minerals, plants and animals. We are one chemical family and if we are short of a few chemicals we supply them hastily with a pill. But who does what? Are we eating the earth or is the earth eating us? Is there may be another relationship as well? I think it is worth its while to delve into this question. This area is not without sources. The most recent one is coming from the sky itself.
It seems to me that our own good father sky speaks because mother earth is sick. Some years ago, an astronaut remarked that ‘Africa looked like a dying continent’. This is a sad thought. It seems to me that father sky is holding up a light because he wants to show that humans are living in darkness.
Unfortunately, many people do not want to wake up because dreamland has become so real! Are we living in reality or are we living in an unreal world?
It is possible that the above thoughts are too alien for the Western mind. There is, however, one thing we could do already: categorising the advices of the aliens or greys, may be here is a message. To assess them on their validity, maybe we learn something from it. So let’s be greedy, based on profit, but beware …… there is no gain without loss”.
